Spatiotemporal Comparison of Drivers to CO2 Emissions in ASEAN: A Decomposition Study

The Southeast Asian region is one of the most vulnerable to climate change given its geographical location and economic situation. This study aims conduct a combination spatial temporal analyses in order understand differences between member nations terms driving factors changing emissions. logarithmic mean Divisia index (LMDI) method was used estimate carbon dioxide emissions due population, activity, structure, energy intensity effects from year 1990 2018. In conducting study, analysis showed that Singapore only country effectively lessen emissions, population intensity, comparison others. Additionally, ASEAN initially developed at same rate, before countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, started becoming more economically active, shown by their activity. Finally, results have some countries, especially Philippines Indonesia, undergone significant changes which significantly affected also highlight increasing per capita income levels rise. paper concludes presenting summary findings policy recommendations.
